500th Day

I had to bring the little (or not so little) booper in to the doctor today because he was acting really lethargic and running a low grade fever... usually a tell-tale sign that he has an ear infection, which I have grown way too familiar with during the last year. They weighed him and entered his data into a chart, and today, on his 500th day of life, he weighs 27 pounds! No wonder my left arm always aches. :)

Rainy April Laughs

Thundersticks make great toys

On a cold, rainy Saturday in April, Sam and I were resigned to an afternoon trapped in the house, but when Sam's friend Arie came for a visit, we didn't mind. Every toy that Sam had grown bored with was suddenly new and exciting, and the boys battled with thunder sticks, raced cars, rode in the push car, played musical toys, and ate and ate and ate. Tonya and Josh got a night out, but I was the lucky one. I got to spend a delightful few hours with two handsome toddlers who made me laugh and laugh and laugh.

Future pilot and mechanical engineer?

And for the record, no children were harmed in the filming of these videos:

Sam thinks Arie is a jungle gym.

The boys are getting tired. Sorry, Tonya and Josh. The boy fell once. :)

Sam thinks Arie's peekaboo is hilarious:

The First Spring Bonfire

Juicy grilled burgers dripping with melted cheese. Colorful purple and green coleslaw. Fresh blueberries and sweet chunks of watermelon. Long fettucine noodles slathered in garlic. Delicious crunchy lentil craisin cookies. A perfectly chilled homebrew. A Wild Boar Medicine card. A brand new red wagon. Children laughing. Bright green sippy cups. A pink pacifier. A yellow plastic mower. A squirrel on a wire. Lambec. Size five rubber shoe soles slapping on patio brick. The smoke smell of that first spring bonfire and the cracking, blinding explosion of burning dry Christmas tree branches. Motorcyle engines roaring down Broadway. Babies snuggled up and falling asleep on their parents laps as the grown-ups talk about families and camping and sleep deprivation and making lists and the endless curiosity of toddlers.

For lots of spring evening pictures of the photogenic toddlers, click here.

Thanks for a great evening, Tonya and Josh, Jamie and Dave.
